The Executive Team
The Mechanic Group is led by a team of leading industry professionals who possess an average of 30 years experience in delivering insurance and risk management solutions to the Physical Security, Intelligence, Investigation, Electronic Security and Security Consulting Industries.
Clients, private security and investigation associations and members of the insurance community commonly refer to executive team members as “trusted partners.”
The firm is a recognized insurance provider by The National Council of Investigation and Security Services, Inc. (NCISS), Associated Licensed Detectives of NYS (ALDONYS), California Association of Licensed Security Agencies, Guards and Associates (CALSAGA), Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) and Associated Detective & Security Agencies of IL (ADSAI).

Marc Katz, Principal
Marc Katz has more than 30 years of experience servicing the Physical Security, Investigation and Electronic Security Industries. He has established a successful network of thousands of brokers nationwide.

Steve Mechanic, Principal
Steve has been servicing the Physical Security, Intelligence, Investigation and Electronic Security Industries since 1996.
Before joining The Mechanic Group in 1996, Steve was the Director of Special Sales at the American Stock Exchange.

John Tateossian, Senior Vice President
John Tateossian is a Senior Vice President of Specialty Program Group, LLC and responsible for the day to day operations of the National Elevator Insurance Solutions program. In this role, he oversees all aspects of this program, including Sales, Underwriting, Operations and Placement. Additionally, John has P&L responsibilities for the Security Guard and New Heights Boom Programs.
John came to SPG 13 years ago with an extensive underwriting background. He started his insurance career as a trainee with Chubb. He spent 7 years with Chubb in a variety of underwriting and managerial positions. He then spent 8 years with AIG, initially running regional offices and then national practices.
EDUCATION
John graduated high school from the American School of Paris and then received a BA in Political Science from Drew University in 1993. He then received an MBA from Rutgers University in 2008.
